About the Festival

The Women’s Sea Kayak Festival started on Bute in 2012 and after three successful years on Bute , the festival moved to Devon in 2015, and was a resounding success. The festival returned to Bute in 2016, and back to Devon in 2017.

The festival returns to Bute on 17th-19th August 2018, and it will run for three days Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The festival on Bute is all about exploring the beautiful coastline by sea kayak, with other female paddlers and meeting and learning from top level female coaches and guides. We’re proud to support and facilitate an all female-led coaching team with an emphasis on learning and fun.

The festival includes:

  • 3 days of coaching and guiding at a maximum ratio of 1:6.
  • Both evening meals (A buffet meal and a 3 course dinner) in Ettrick Bay tearoom
  • A outdoor marquee for socialising
  • Coastal camping for 3 nights with toilets
  • Talks, raffle and more

The event is run and organised by a small group of volunteer kayakers and is costed on the basis of a commitment to pay professional rates to the female coaches and guides, have a good standard of camping and provide paddler friendly catering.The festival is run on a not for profit basis and any profit after expenses is donated to charity.
